My topic
is Indian love stories,
but I want to show you how those ancient stories could
connect with a regular guy, today,
and the problems he has in his love life.
But I'm really not the best person to tell you about those love
stories.
Let's go listen to what Jerry,
the bartender, has to say.
A young
man walked into my bar one day and he wasn’t looking so good. He looked
like he
hadn’t showered in a few days and like he had been crying a lot. If I
remember
correctly, his name was Jim. After talking to him, I learned he and his
girlfriend had been fighting a lot and
were on the verge of breaking up. So, let’s go back a few years and
I'll tell you
about the story of Jim and what I told him. I know a few love stories,
so I hope you enjoy the stories I told Jim as much as he enjoyed them.
The year was 2004
when Jim stumbled into my bar....
"Welcome
to the Frog Pond! Come over here and let’s fix you a drink.”
"Thanks, man. Yeah, I've had a few
rough weeks! My girlfriend and I are going through a lot and I think we
may
break up. I wanted to marry her, but I'm not sure if we can make it. We
have a
lot of stress in our lives right now. We've been kicked out of our
apartment
because the landlord didn't like me. The reason I didn't have money to
pay rent
is because I have a gambling problem. I spent all of my money for my
bills at
the casino. On top of all that,
there is this guy who is really
obsessed with my girlfriend and keeps trying to steal her away from me.
She
swears she doesn't want anything to do with him, but I feel like I'm
not good
enough anymore. I would bet that if that guy took her away from here
she
probably wouldn't look back."
"Wow!
That sounds like my life. I'm pretty interested now. Will you please
tell me
more?"
