Jackson has set the
bar at being a great singer and an even
better entertainer. He made the
mold for
every other star after him. They all now
have to keep up their image and do something different and original. They must now not only be fun to listen to
but also put on a good
show. Before Jackson’s time
this could
have been done with a light show and some pyrotechnics.
Now stars are all over the stage and in
flashy costumes with numbers of other dancers beside them.
Jackson’s
shows now are still an incredible experience.
Things are bigger and bright now then they were when he
was an
unquestioned superstar. Stars like
Britney Spears and other pop stars must now have things to keep the
crowd’s
attention, thanks to Michael music does not solely work anymore. She, and others, will change costume for
every song. People now are not just
paying for a good voice and clever lyrics; a show is mandatory to keep
fans
now. This is true throughout all music
now. Every
genre from pop singers to metal bands like Metallica will
put on
“theatrical shows” to get the crowd riled up.
There are no such things as singers or dancers anymore,
there
must be
both in order for people to judge a person worth their time; we call
this new
species a performer. |
