Their
father worked them hard while Barry Gordy,
the owner of Motown Records, also worked them hard.

They practiced until they were all too tired
to practice anymore,
and then they would practice again.
A huge part of who
Michael Jackson is today
is due to the way his father
treated him
and his brothers.
He was very violent and had a short temper
with all of them. Because of his hard
work ethic he turned
the boys into workaholics
that would never settle for
second.
He was never encouraging and
treated the boys very badly,
specifically Michael.

During Michael’s adolescence,
“Joe teased
Michael about his pimples
and repeatedly told him that he was ugly,
making
Michael cry daily (Graves, 40),”
part
of the
reason Michael felt so worthless and has tried to “fix” himself
with
plastic
surgery. As Michael grew up he grew up
as a star and had no time
for childish things.
He was robbed of his childhood and that is why, he says,
he
befriends so
many small children. He knows what it is
like to not have a childhood
and didn’t want that to have to happen to
anyone
else. Granted, his methods are odd
and
do get him into trouble, but in his mind they are noble efforts.
