CONCLUSION:
From working on this web project, I have learned a number of things.  One of the key things I have really learned, which I know will be of much benefit in the future, is how to design and construct a web page.  Before this project, I had no idea how to do this, but now I have been able to see how easy and fun it can be.  I have really enjoyed learning the different steps involved throughout the construction.  Aside from this, I have also learned much about the practice of medicine by those during the Hellenistic Period, the Medieval Period, and the time of the Egyptians.  My main goal for this web project was to try and present how medicine progressed from era to era, through the different influences of a large variety of people.  Galen, Herophilus, Erasistratus, Hippocrates, Arabs, Vesalius, the Edwin Smith Surgical Papyrus, and a number of others all had a phenomenal influence on how medicine was shaped into what it has become today.  Being a Pre-Med student, I thought this would be a fun topic to discuss.  Now, upon the completion of the project, I have found myself even more interested in medicine.

Medicine is quite an interesting field.  It is constantly changing each and every day.  In order to understand how this amazing field came to, I really wanted to explore its roots.  I had a number of possibilities of episodes on different eras to include in this project.  I chose to include Egyptian Medicine because, in my eyes, that is truly where medicine began.  I next moved on to Hellenistic Medicine, which was quite an interesting time period to explore.  I included the medicine during this time because there is a lot of debate today on whether or not physicians should take the Hippocratic Oath.  I wanted to show what medicine was like during this time, but also, I wanted to pay contribution to Herophilus and Erasistratus, the founders of Anatomy and Physiology, and human dissection as well.  Medieval Medicine seemed quite appealing to me, as it encompassed the practices during the Black Plague.  Although I didn't include much information on the Black Plague, I wanted to focus more on how the disease affected the practice of medicine.

I was quite interested in exploring the different techniques each different era of people used in their medicinal practices.  Egyptians believed the works of the gods or evil forces caused diseases, therefore altering how they chose to treat these diseases.  It was quite interesting to see how people from one era used the advancements from those who lived before them, or were still around, to shape their practicing of medicine.  After having read the responses from my peers, along with receiving an e-mail from a woman wanted to know if she could cite my project in her term paper, I am very pleased with the way this project ended up turning out.  I never intended for it to have that much of an influence.  I hope you enjoyed reading the information and learning about how medicine progressed, as much as I enjoyed putting the project together.  Please feel free to use the information in any project you choose, as long as you give the proper citation!  If you have any questions about anything, don't hesitate to e-mail me.  Hopefully, in the near future, I will add more episodes containing the practices of medicine during other eras.  Until then, enjoy!  Thank you!
